STAY TUNED FOR UPCOMING SPRING 2014 EVENTS!
Happy New Year!
Thank goodness we are halfway through the winter and we looking forward to the
spring. As Director of Classics Dance
Theatre, this past year has been a roller coaster of personal health problems
and family loss. As hearts are healing I
am looking ahead to a better season. We
hope you will join us as our exciting journey into dance, education, and
literature continues. As always, CDT still stands for our guiding principles of
our mission statement: “Classics Dance Theatre Company brings new dimension to
the timeless grace, beauty, and elegance of ballet by transforming beloved tales
of classical literature into dance, promoting original expression through new
choreographic works by company members.”
Due to a wonderful response to our 2013 Spring Fundraiser at the Bartlett Arboretum and Gardens in Stamford Connecticut, we have plans to bring back this successful fundraiser in 2014. The afternoon started with live music by William Zucker in the restored Homestead House where we enjoyed fine delectables and wine. Then our guests strolled over to the Silver Educational Center admiring the beautiful natural surroundings. We were entertained by our company members and apprentices in a variety of excerpts from Classics Dance Theatre’s repertoire. As if we hadn’t enjoyed ourselves enough, our afternoon ended with an amazing silent auction and some of the most delicious tarts and pastries ever tasted. All the delicious food for the event was provided by Palmer’s Catering.
Now that CDT is back on track, we plan to broaden our development of The Diary of Anne Frank Ballet into the 2014 season with more educational outreach projects and performances in the New England area, inclusive of our collaboration with the JCC of Westchester. We acknowledge the historical importance of preserving this great work and introducing it to new audiences through a new, broadly accessible medium. As choreographer, I am also looking to expand my work by continuing to delve into Anne’s story and finish what I envisioned.
